Not competing yet but having fun with the training. I'd love to hear if anyone else is competing or training!

I'm working on trying to focus her on running down the lane and ignoring other dogs. right now its just too tempting for her, although she gets better every week. Trying to focus a puppy of any age is a challenge!

Have you started flyball yet? I was wondering how much running is there for us humans? I can't do agility cuz of the knees. I know that alot of people wear braces but I prefer to keep the original kneecaps if I can.

There is some running

During training you're going to have to run when teaching your dog how to run hurdles. If you start competing you may have to do some bending of your knees when you're starting your dog.

Flyball is a relay race. There is a team of five dogs (I think, maybe six?) and there are four hurdles. Each dog takes a turn; they run down the lane and over the hurdles. At the end there is a spring loaded box that the dog does a jump/turn on (kind of like the turn swimmers do when racing). When they jump/turn on the box, a ball shoots out, the dog catches it in its mouth then runs with the ball back over the 4 hurdles. As the dog clears the last hurdle, the next dog is released and the dogs pass each other. Its a timed race and is very exciting

Both of my guys are trained in flyball. Gio is retired now, though.

Flyball is a head-to-head race where two teams of four dogs run relay style over 4 hurdles to catch a ball from a special box, and return over the hurdles. The first team to have all 4 dogs complete the series correctly wins! Loud, fast, crazy and LOTS of fun!!

There are two main organizations that regulate flyball in North America.
North American Flyball Association (NAFA) is currently the most popular. Their website is http://www.flyball.org
U-FLI is steadily gaining in popularity though is not offered in all areas yet. Their website is http://www.u-fli.com

Both sites have club locators so you can find teams and classes in your area.
