what you thoughts on this?

I always end training on a good note. Such as today:
Nellie kept jumping off th teeter, so I worked with her until sh rode it down and did 2o2o. I understand the thinking, that if you keep going you could make it worse, and in that case, I would do something that is easier for her before stopping and thinking what happened.

I try to end with my dogs wanting more and that's usually when I'm cheering them for doing something right!

Romeo is probably like Justicemom's Ember. He hates repetition and short sweet successful sessions work well with him because it keeps his drive up.

Juliet can do reps. She's learning to handle her frustration better and will work hard and long with great drive. But I don't push her either, so I keep it short (but longer than Romeo's session), and always with her wanting to do more (which is like, all the time if there's food involved!).

I'd say that every dog is different and you have to go with what works for you. We have problems with dog walk/tunnel discrimination so every practice begins and ends with it. If he does it wrong, we make it easier so he can get it right so he does end on a good note. Not because I'm worried about him getting discouraged but more so he doesn't think that doing it the wrong way is acceptable and therefore becoming the right way.

That being said, if I stopped my dog when he lost focus we would never end practice and I would have to quit my job and stop taking care of my husband and kids
