white spot on the eye?

First of all I hope this is ok to post here since the dog in question is not a sheltie.

We took Rosie (guide dog foster) to the vets yesterday because she has a yeast infection in her ear again. While the vet was examining her he said something looked like a white spot in her eye, he was concerned about juvenile cataracts. So he got his eye tool thing (sorry don't know what its called) and looked in her eye. He said he doesn't know what it is! Its not a cataract, he spot doesn't go all the way through, and the retina looks good. He doesn't think it affects her vision any, and we should keep an eye on it.

Any thoughts on what it could possibly be? I have to let pilot dogs know about it, and I am sure they will have someone from OSU look at it when she gets returned ( which is real soon) I just hope this doesn't disqualify her from being a guide dog. :(
 
Corneal dystrophy, perhaps? Your vet was honest, but I'm surprised he wouldn't have some kind of idea.
 
What color/breed is the dog? I had a blue merle Aussie who had white spots in the eye. However, I would point it out to the program.

She is a 9 month old black lab.

We have notified pilot dogs, and they are not going to do anything right now since it is so close to fair time and if they took her now my daughter wouldn't have a dog to show for that class.
