Why does he always pick on me?

This isn't a serious thread exactly, but I'm still curious if anyone has some insight!

So, sometimes my boyfriend* and I playfight a bit, and whenever I 'attack' my boyfriend Cosmo tends to nibble my trousers or jump at me, and if my boyfriend 'attacks' me, Cosmo still nibbles and jumps up at me! It doesn't matter who is laughing or whatever, he'll never nibble or jump at my boyfriend.

*We lived together before we got our shelties together, we interact with and spend equal time with the dogs.

Thoughts?
 
Who is he closer to? He is either protecting you both ways or protecting him both ways from any real or imagined harm.

Our Aussie girl, my husband's dog, got between us or came after ME no matter who was doing the activity. Only she was actually trying to kill me and take my place.

I suppose he would be closer to me, well he certainly keeps an eye on me more than he does my boyfriend lol. I'm just trying to figure out his logic when it comes to going for me no matter what!

Jet never gets involved like Cosmo does, he usually stands in the doorway barking at us lol.
 
My sheltie loves this game. He usually attacks the aggressor but sometimes he will go after whoever is making the most noise! He will jump up, bark and nibble at us. It's pretty cute. He just doesn't like seeing us get out of line LOL.
