    The "Zoe confused" picture is of Zoe and her 1/2 sister Clover. At the time I thought Clover was so big, but when I saw her in November (Zoe was 7 months then) they were almost the same size! They grow up so fast!

    Wow!! Does Bacca seem better now that he's on NOW!? I started getting concerned with the types of protein foods out there and was wondering how does one know if it's the food or not??

    Long story, but here's the quickie:
    - Spring, I switched the boys from Pro Plan to Orijen (grain-free, 40% protein). Dogs loved it.
    - June, one morning, Bacca's left jowl and underjaw had swollen up to alarming proportions. Rush to emerg...either an infection of some kind or lymphoma cancer! Two weeks of antibiotics; and all fine, but now Bacca wouldn't eat.
    - Switched to Legacy - also 40% protein. He acted funny about food all summer
    - Fall, decided we had to figure this out. Bloodwork done and yipes! He has hypothyroid, without any standard symptoms! Now on meds
    - More bloodwork to see if meds are working. Now his ALT levels are quadruple normal levels - means possible a liver shunt! Now talk of ultrasounds, biopsy and possible surgery. We discuss the high protein diet and first step is to go back to a regular protein diet.
    - we go back at end of January to retest again.
    Is it the diet? We don't know for sure, but it seemed a reasonable place to start.

    Hi Megansmom
    I so much agree with what you said on the post today to Ania regarding her rescuing the collie. It brought tears to my eyes, still does, when I read the part where you said that when he gets to the rainbow bridge he will be waiting for Ania so he can say "thank you" for caring for him in his greatest hours of need, and to tell Ania he loves her. What a beautiful thing to say/I agree 100%. I can tell that message came straight from your heart and soul. Thanks for sharing that post. It moved me deeply.
