Thank you for sharing your memories of Hamish with us. He sounds like a true sheltie boy. Nothing like the love of a sheltie and the sweetness of their memories.
Thanks so much for letting me share my Hamish with you. He was such a special first Sheltie and so totally mine. My niece has told me over the years I rescued him from my sister because of how he was treated at home. I totally agree. I will always feel guilty because I was far away when he died and that he died alone at the vet's overnight but I treasure the memories I have of him.
As my first dog Galy the Sharpei passed away I was in Moscow, Russia - 1000 miles away from him. My father put him to sleep 2 days before my arrival because his heart and lungs were about to fail and my dad couldn't let him suffer. I'm very thankful that he didn't wait the other two days. But for almost two years I couldn't forgive myself that I wasn't there with Galy as he was leaving this world. Now I know that he died being loved in my dad's arms and he didn't stop loving me although I was so far away. I wasn't with him but we never parted. I'm sure your Hamish felt your love as well. Hugs to you and thanks for sharing the photo and the story of your exceptional dog
