4th of July~

Thanks ya'll, I really appreciate it.

Earnhardt seems to be back to his old yeller self. His appetite is great, and even had a short spurt of zoomies this afternoon. Unfortuneately,my vets office is closed for the remainder of the week on vacations. So he will have to go next week.
So keeping paws crossed it does not happen again between now & then. It was his first seizure that I was aware of.
Not saying he has not had any others, even possibly in his sleep. I will not know probably. i do know seeing the big guy quite in a helpless state was no fun. Poor guy even peed on himself.

From what I have read things like this are common in labs, as they get older. I don't even think of him as a senior.Seems like yesterday Brian & I witnessed that birth of seven beautiful puppies.

OOOoooooh what a sweet picture !!! How did you get them all still long enough to take that shot? Have you kept track of his littermates ? Praying for you all through the tough times...Ernhardt still DOES have that same look !!

My hubby works nights, and he was getting ready to leave for work. And he did the famous "puppy..puppy..puppy" and they all came running up to the barrier. There were 7,the other female was somewheres at the bottom of the pile. She was a cutie patoodie. I nick named her "sweet pea". Just the prettiest face, alot of creamy white on her face.

Two pups were homed to familes here in town. Unfortuneately one was killed at 2yrs of age. Hut by a car. The male from that family is doing well.
the other pups were homed in other towns,so I have not ever been able to keep in touch.

I have to say,of the pups we did see after they went to homes, resembled thier mother in many ways, and not so much that "lab" look like our Earnhardt.

Earnhardt was the image of his dad,a pure yellow lab. His name was Hunter. A beautiful dog. He passed 2 years ago,of old age,had severe hip dysplasia. He was quite pitiful at the time of his passing. His owners live 2 houses up from us now. And it was a sad day when Hunter passed.

It was our first time ever with raising a litter of puppies. The mom was left at the residance that we rented. She was just left to fend for herself. We knew notihng about her, except she knew that it was her home.
It took me nearly 2 months to get close to her,and feed her from my hand. With alot, alot of patience & alot of hotdogs she finally one day trrusted me to eat from my hand.

It took another few weeks to get close enough to put a flea collar on her.Literally I carried that thing in my pocket all the time. And I would go sit on front steps, wait for her to decide to come close.

One day I just ignored her,and right up to the top step she came and sat there like I was her world, and we were best buds after that.

It took time with her,one day Brian picked her up & carried her in the house, and gave her what was probably her first bath ever. After that bath, good food, cushy bed...man oh man what a dog she was.

Some time after that she gave birth to these puppies...so our journey began!

What a" happy ending" story and what a special place Earnhardt must have in your heart.

That he does. It's quite something to be there, and hold your pup just minutes after birth. But ya know back then,we never thought we would be where we are today. I personally was a big dog person. LOVED THEM!!

Brian always had a german shephard by his side growing up.

I had always thought & wished I would one day own a sheltie. And here we are 9 years later..
1 lab,3 sheltie,1 cat...
Would'nt change a thing!
