Hi my Lily just turned 9 months old yesterday, and I was wondering what should I except? Anybody know anything? Her rotten behavior is slowing down?

When Emmy turned 9 months I started seeing signs of her calming down, but it is slow. She's 10 months now and is being far more obedient and will actually sleep next to me on the couch sometimes (as opposed to getting over tired and not settling down until I put her in her crate for a nap.)

But, she's still a puppy and seems to possess a boundless amount of energy...and the desire to kidnap our socks and run wild with them.

When Bacca was 9 months old, I had enough of his constant herding me....so I decided to get another dog to for him to herd.....Worked like a charm! But I still crated them both until they were almost 2 years old.

Seriously though, this behaviour can go go on for many months yet. With my first Sheltie, Timber.....I thought he was well past the chewing phase at 18 months.....then he decided to chew holes in my brand new living room couches.

All to say, don't let your guard down yet!

It really depends on the dog. My 14 monther has yet to calm down, unless he's having an off day like yesterday. Usually they calm down around 2-3 yrs old, but depends. My 10 yr old is just as bad as she was when a puppy, so I'm not a good judge of when they calm down.

My 6 year old, Jonesie Dream, is still very puppy-ish. Very active, playful, and will still try to nip at me when she thinks she can get by with it. (She was kept in a crate by a hoarder for the first 3 years of her life, so maybe she is making up for lost time :smile2:)

So yes, it just depends on the dog.
