How old is he now? He could be going through another fear period.

He is 20 weeks this Thursday. He is a chicken though on new things. Definitely not the alpha puppy
.SheepofBlue, be aware though (and it is a good thing, I guess!) when they come out of being afraid of things................then they are afraid of nothing!
McKinley got out of the fenced in back yard and was trotting up the middle of Church Street the other day to say hello to the big teenage boys (real human boys). Fortunately the boys are nice. But the little bugger is now not afraid of anything.
(The back yard is now puppy proofed.)

Yep he is normally pretty bold once in the zone. His chair leaps are getting out of control and I am considering put a foam pad on the trailer jack like a goal post for when he goes on a nutter in the backyard.
Last night we went to get ice at Mom's (my ice maker died) for his teeth and he hit the door and charged to play with Bear the grump, before he was a bit cautious. I can see Bear jumping him again soon to say knock it off Jr.
This is probably over-analyzing, but the afraid/not afraid cycle reminds me of my sister when she was a teen. She loved the thrill of being startled and would purposely frighten herself to get that adrenaline rush -- like walking out on a train trestle over a ravine and looking straight down. It was her real-life version of a scary movie.

Bailey is 6 months this week. I think she is going through her 2nd fear stage. For the past two weeks she has been scared when walking past people at the bus stop. Shes also scared to walk next to garbage cans. Ive been giving her treats when she doesnt act.scared or to move her along. She doesnt bark or growl. She just pulls away from them. I hope she grows out of it and becomes fearless.
