A short time with a big dog!

I was taking the dogs outside yesterday evening at 8:30 when I saw a huge dog enjoying life and walking down the sidewalk. I initially looked for a human but the dog was alone. I called the dog (silly me, I’m in a locked yard with my three) and he came running to the dog’s window (and barking ensued!)
I went outside through my garage and found the loose dog in my front yard. I called hi puppy (clearly not a puppy😂) and while initially a bit intimidated by his size (his head was the size of Piper!) he was very friendly. I snapped a leash on him and brought him into my garage, left him there and put my dogs in the house then went back to my new friend lol.
After posting on a local Facebook group the owners were found and we waited for them to come pick Forrest up. What a sweetheart this big guy was but it really made me appreciate my Shelties! He was a very well behaved dog who when I told him to sit he sat but when he pulled on the leash he MOVED me🤣!
I’m glad I was able to reunite them quickly because this big guy would not have come into my house (or yard) with my dogs!
They turned out to live just down the lane from us, when I told the owners where I live she said ‘is that the house with the doggy window’?😆…
His escapade lasted maybe 10 minutes…hope he enjoyed his freedom! Lol
A beautiful dog who I think needs more exercise…he certainly enjoyed his walk! lol

Looks like a friendly dog and glad he got reunited with his family.. He and the shelites may have had a blast in a dog park where they could run.. He was very very lucky he found you or you found him, this could have ended very differently. When we first moved to our current house (years ago) our Irish setter decided to go explore the neighbor hood- we looked up and down, drove all over the place calling his name- nothing, then a neighbor down the road came by and said "since you just moved here we tho't this dog may be yours" they had put him in their garage as well-- Whew, thank you neighbors.

don't know if I posted that Reggie escaped my brother's yard this past Christmas. the good boys came to the door and said he went out under the fence. I had just come into the house to put my coat on, get cookies and leash when my cell phone rang. Reggie visited a neighbor a few houses away but went right up to the guy who was able to see the phone numbers on his collar tag. I don't typically answer calls from numbers that I don't know but since it was from the right area code for my brother's area, thought I should answer it. the guy walked him on leash and we met out on the road so Reggie's adventure was only 10-15 minutes too. way better than Davy's :uhoh: who wasn't leaving the yard again:winkgrin:
 
Good job Lisa. I've rescued several dogs from wandering the streets over the years. One was a little Chihuahua with a coat on, but no collar. I don't get not having a collar and ID tag on your dog at all times.
Anyway, Forrest looks like a total love and I'm glad you got to meet your neighbors.
 
He is a beauty! Kudos to you for catching him. I see so many posts of lost dogs lately that it’s depressing. With all you have going on right now, saving him was really a good deed. I’m glad you found his owners quickly! I suspect he’d take a lot of room on the bed!

I told my mom yesterday I almost got another dog🤣. She got a good laugh about that one!
Of course I took Piper with me to visit my mom yesterday evening. He sat on the bed with her while she ate some of her inedible supper. Of course there was a 1/2 of a banana that Piper got.
He lay beside my mom for a good hour mooching.
The best medicine!
