A Weekend in Agility Heaven

Spent the weekend at the AAC National Championships! Felt like a kid in a candy store :) What fun! Well, for me anyway. I was there as a volunteer so at least I didn't have any performance anxiety  . I drove back and forth each day (3 hour round trip) and left Clancy at home, which turned out to be a smart move as it was hotter than stink all four days! I have the sunburn to prove it. SPF60 my butt!

Got to see some beautiful dogs and amazing handling. Susan Garrett was there with both Feature and Swagger. Came home realizing Clancy and I have some work to do because next time they're held this close to home, I want to be a competitor. It would be much less work than volunteering LOL!!!

Oh how fun. I only went to Regionals and was awed. I can only imagine a Nationasl level. Was there lot of vendors that you had to stay away from too? Doesn't it make you want to do more agility!?

How fun!

I agree with Cheryl--what did you buy?

LOL...yes, I was worried about the vendors. I'm on a tight budget and didn't want to get too crazy. As it was, there wasn't all that many vendors and not too much that I couldn't live without. Given that my dogs already have multiple leashes & collars and rarely play with the toys they have....

The booths selling cooling mats and dog jackets, etc., were doing a booming business as it was way hot over the weekend. I wanted to get a cooling mat for Clancy to use during the summer but they didn`t have the gel filled kind, which is what I want.

There were some Agility jackets and pants from http://www.itzyu4fido2.ca/ that I would've loved but I didn't see my size so I took that as a sign to keep walking . I did end up just buying a t-shirt. It has the agility periodical table on the front! Very cool and at only $10 I didn`t have to feel guilty.

I would have been better off spending my money at the vendors. As it was I spent way too much money on raffle tickets and won....nothing . They had awesome raffle prizes (including a couple of tunnels which I was coveting!) but alas, all my raffle luck was bad <sob>.

As a volunteer I did get a 'swag bag' full of goodies, including a lot of treats and some doggie supplements (prompting my 7 year old to ask why Clancy got prizes when *I* did all the work. Hmm...good point!).

I didn`t get much free time for photos but managed to snag some random shots when I could, now up on Flickr.

I'm glad to hear that even though you were on a budget, that you were unable to buy anything. Well, you know what i mean. The shirt you got sounds funny. Would you mind posting a picture? I'd love to see it.

When I went to USDAA Regionals, There was about 15 vendors and yes, the raffle items were awesome! I didn't win anything either.

That's cute!!! I'm assuming the stuff in the middle is AAC titles? Hehehe. We need to make some for the venues down here.

Yes Hitting the Nationals or the regionals around me because a large # of compeditors from my Local area make up the national's roster and the CDN national team for the most part is always an humbling and eye opening experience. But Its allways worth the trip. When I put Storm in the SW regionals 2 days after she turned 18 months and ran her in steeplechase it was a hoot talk about a learning experience for both of us WOW, even though she messed up on the weaves royally she was sure being watched closely by a couple of the national team members and recieved
some favorable comments after the run especially since she was so young still.

Her first real trial is 2 weeks off at our trainers factlity , a double day of games only no std runs and I am starting to get nervous as an expectant Mother already LOL. I have got her running 2 gamblers and 2 jumpers, I passed on ST and snooker for this outing, Favour and Dice will be there but at lease this time she won't have to go head to head with them as I am not doing ST.
