Acting strange - 8 month old

Hello.

My 8 month old girl has suddenly started acting strangely.

All of a sudden she will act frightened and tremble, then she stands, with head down and wont settle. I have to pick her up and lie her down or she falls asleep standing up! She is also being clingy.

She is eating and acting normally at other times.

Someone said this is a sign she is going on heat soon.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Does she just tremble for no reason or is she reacting to something? If it's happening for no apparent reason there could be a medical problem, such as epilepsy. I would certainly raise this with a vet and take a video of it to show the vet.

If she is becoming fearful of certain things then it could be the adolescent second fear-impact period. Don't push her to confront scary things - take it slowly, use lots of treats and praise, and ride it out as it does pass (although they can still develop life long fears - my female never got over a fear of drains). This is good article that may help http://www.sdhumane.org/site/DocServer/BT_K9-Fear_and_Reactivity_in_Adolescence.pdf?docID=580

Ditto Caro's input and, if your sheltie is not directly reacting to something when these episodes happen, as Caro suggested take a video and show it to your vet. Seizures can present in so many different ways that actually seeing what happened can be critical to dx what is going on.
