I think Duncan is officially in adolescence. I've been in denial for about a month on this (saying his occasional humping of Pierre was a dominance thing - hey, Pierre humps back!). But today, I noticed the change.
After work, I went straight to the dog park. My hubby had the day off and was enjoying the nice weather (68 degrees!!!) at the park with the dogs. He'd been there about an hour and a half when I got there, so we stayed another half hour.
First, the usual greeting was a little off. Pierre saw me first and came flying over, kisses and all. Then, Duncan trotted over, wiggling with excitement, kissing and asking for rubs - until he remembered where he was. He played it cool and slunk back into the knot of dogs. I hugged DH and looked over to the dogs (auto-response at the park).
There was Duncan, shmoozing a Corgi. He gave her kisses, smelled her, and then proceeded to hump her. I was aghast. Of course, DH then tells me that his behavior was typical for the day. Sigh!
Duncan has not been neutered yet. There is a voucher program in my county that greatly reduces the neuter cost. I called today (after the incident) to get a quote on how much it will save (if it wasn't much, I'd just have it done). $150!!! The paperwork for the voucher got finished up today and put in the mail. Now for the few weeks of waiting... I wonder what other adolescent surprises are in store for me!
