Adopted a dog, breed/color question.

My little Meggie is a "shaded" sable as well. Also known as tri-factored sable.

My Justice is that color too. But he is a Bi Factored Sable. His Dad was a Bi-Black. He started very light and got very dark.

Glad Lucy found a forever home.

Congratulations to you and Lucy! What a lucky girl. Her scars made me sad though.

Our first Sheltie Skye was a shaded, or mahogany sable, I think they are beautiful. Our two now are much lighter, and Ally has some red to her.

Fiona is a total cute fluff ball.

Thanks for sharing and keep us updated, please!

Just wanted to say you're the best for taking in Lucy. She's a beauty. But then again, I'm biased towards mahogany sables. Mine are both like that. They started out light sable (like Lassie) and over the years, they get darker and darker. Miko is almost all black like Lucy. But yup, it's just the tips.

Poor girl, it sounds like she's been through so much. Its so amazing that some dogs can't continue to have such wonderful personalities despite being treated so badly. Sounds like you definitely have a diamond in the rough, she's certainly going to be gorgeous when her coat comes in.

Yes, she is most definitely a shaded sable, like my girl Sadie and my parent's sheltie Milo.
