Adult Sheltie Doesn't Ask To Go Out

A lot of dogs never learn how to ask. If you are letting them out on a routine basis, they never have to learn.
Try working with just Toby. Ask him, with lots of excitement in your voice, if he needs to go outside then take only him outside to do his business. Once he does something and gets the appropriate praise then let the other two out. I know the other dogs will wonder what the heck is going on but they will be okay. Try it for two weeks and see if he catches on.
I sure know how weekends get taken up. I was looking at a clear weekend this week and then the phone started ringing. Within minutes I am now going to London to help friends find a good boarding stable for their soon to be acquired new horse and Tin is going for his monthly session with Meaghan. Hope we will see you at the picnic. I will be running some dog/handler type games this year.

Mine don't ask. One will pace and look uncomfortable, so you get the idea; the other displays no outward signs at all...and then sometimes has accidents, even though he goes out on a regular schedule for prolonged periods of time. It's frustrating.
