Afraid of the dark?

It is not that I don't think that my dog can't see at night, I just know he doesn't like the dark very much. I am sure he sees very well, he knows the snakes are in the grass long before I have caught sight of them. We use to go out late in the summer but when the dark started coming earlier he stopped going out after dinner, so we moved his dinner time up to hit the outside before very dark set in and he does better with that. If we're away and it is dark when we get home, he then doesn't want to go out after eating. Has to do with the dark is all we can come up with, haven't thought of another explanation to explain it.
 
Tara doesn't like going into the dark by herself. If another dog is there, she is fine with it. And Bonnie can't really see unless lights are on for her. And even in the light, she doesn't see much anymore.
 
My Tuppence and little jacks don't have any problems with the dark, but they both pretty much refuse to walk out on wet grass to potty! This would not seen so strange if they both didn't love swimming at the beach so much or that they still demand we go for walks in the pouring rain!
 
At camp Meggie is very "watchful" when I take her out after dark, if she alerts to something that I don't see, I believe her, her eyes are better than mine. At home she is fine, I guess she knows there isn't anything in our fenced yard. For Laddie it is more the sounds he doesn't recognize rather than the dark.
