Novice Agility

Me too!! My left is my "right"! I have more luck with 'gee' and 'haw.' Wonder if that cause a stir during class...

Well, then you should have no problem teaching it then because your right hand is your dogs left and your left hand is your dog's right.

I think the key is to not make your pup do too much jumping before they turn one. Also, Clantyre is right, no weaving for now.

Your assuming the handler can tell their left from their right when running. Somehow that circuit doesn't connect in my brain. You can't imagine the flack I've gotten because of that. I blame it on being left handed.

I'm a lefty also.My Mother always said,"left handers" are special.

My Home Depot trip yielded this, a Bar/Hurdle jump.Came out pretty good.
Now if I could only get her to jump it.She likes to run around it.
I guess that's a start.

That looks pretty good. Rachel and I made 4 jumps last tues. We are not handy so it was work. Rachel's husband came out to help us drill holes or we still be there. Can't wait to see Holly going over the jump.

Yes us left handers are special. Not sure that's good or bad.

Try tossing the treat over the jump and she should go over it.

Or a toy. Sometimes it's hard for them to the treat, but they can see a ball or bumper and will follow it.

I don't usually have a problem with left and right, but my brain is too slow to name obstacles while I am running. So I have it down to four commands "over" "tunnel" "weave" and "go up". "Go up" is any contact, doesn't matter which one. It seems to be working so far.
