Agility

I get aggravated with the big sheltie yahoo list on this subject... they act like AKC did their best. There was even someone who claimed, when it was pointed out the agility is a bigger money maker than the conformation, that the agility is EASY, and that it is EASY to earn titles.
Really made me mad. I invited said person to come run one of my dogs, and he can tell me just how 'easy' it is. He'd probably be told off by Kai in 5 seconds for not being on the ball. He'd probably send the dogs to all sorts of wrong courses.
I believe I read somewhere it was maybe 1 in 1000 agility dogs who get a MACH. Yeah, that's really easy, right? If it were so easy, the percentage would be higher.

I read the comments Stacey and I to get burned up.Some people seemed to think they know it all.I sent an e-mail to AKC. I am not thrilled with them right now.
 
He hasn't found the gall to reply to what I sent him. I'll be interested to see what he has to say.
CLEARLY he has no idea what it takes to finish a MACH dog, let alone even to get a dog good enough to go into novice.
It's funny, people take untrained conformation puppies sometimes into the ring, yet our sport is supposed to be the 'easy' one... (and yes, I do know this for fact, as I have competed in AKC conformation)

My obedience instructor has BCs. She finished her first MACH last year. She has put several OTCHs on her dogs and she said it was harder for her to put to get the MACH than any of her OTCHs. Another friend had a OTCH sheltie that he showed for years trying to finish the MACH and never did get it. I had others say the OTCH is harder. It really depends on were your talent lies.

Easy, right.:rolleyes2: A Ch in any venue is hard work. They just don't give them away.
 
I think an OTCH and MACH are both a real accomplishment, and say something about the enormous amount of hard work, dedication, and faith a person has put into their dog.
