So this will be the last video clip, I promise guys! We won't be able to take the next foundation agility 2 class because my semester in pharmacy school is starting to get more intense. If only it were towards the end of the week instead of Monday..

Anyway, here's Aimee going around this course for the second time. She surprised me by running really fast and leaving me behind lol! I'm used to trotting beside her, hence me starting to wear flats to class LOL. Anyway, so so so proud of this wee little girl! The class was only an hour on Monday nights for 6 weeks and she exceeded my expectations. An observer told me, "that sheltie is gonna run a lot faster than that!"

I would still like to train her until the next class though. Maybe it will fall around May. I will look on youtube for different exercises and tutorials, but for now, any tips on making homemade obstacles on a budget? :D She can't weave or jump high yet, so more like the tunnels/wobbly boards/dog walk! Also, any basic at-home agility exercises you do with your dog? Thanks a bunch!

We started Cruz on foundation skills at 4 months old and start him in agility foundations class tomorrow (no equipment - strictly flatwork). Lots of rear end awareness exercises (ie. pivoting around a book with his back feet, walking through the rungs of a ladder, teaching back up), targeting (both hand targeting and sending to target) and core strengthening with fit paws equipment and couch cushions.

You can youtube a lot of these exercises too!

We are taking (and re-taking) a foundations class… So, extremely limited obstacle stuff. When I was up in the air over taking the foundations class, I found a book called "Flatwork: Foundation for Agility" by Barb Levenson. I briefly skimmed it before class began, and as it would turn out, we did most of the things in the book in class. I've found it helpful in our "off" weeks to try different exercises, or try more advanced circle work (basically it's been keeping me honest about where we're at).

As for the obstacles, basically google DIY dog agility equipment. I splurged and bought a practice tunnel and chute because I wanted something a little heavier (but not competition grade) that would last me a few years. I'm making everything else myself. If there is anything in particular that you are interested in building, let me know and I'll share blueprints.

She is so cute! Looks like she's loving it. If you can't go to the next class, you can always do body awareness exercises. I've even found that doing an obedience class helped our bond and he's more willing to work with me now. Growing up and maturing a bit helps too, I think, lol
