Alfie doesn't want to go for a walk

This is just a possibility, my shelties did not like a leash connected to their collars. I use a harness on each one of them. They will fight me taking a walk without their harnesses in fact. Is Alfie fearful, or maybe he doesn't like that leash connected to his collar?

I bought the harness from Petsmart, and its looks like a figure eight. Instead of pulling on their neck so bad like a collar, it pulls more on the body, which both of mine seem to like.

Its just a thought, I know both of mine prefer to wear a harness especially the diva. I don't know the personality of your sheltie, my girl isn't afraid of anything including firecrakers, neither is my boy, but they don't like to take walks without a harness. They honestly would prefer to run the other way.

My walk with Alfie went well - I see a little improvement. Flexi-leash helped - he didn't pull as hard as when he was on a short leash. I put him in a sit position once in awhile, and when he was far from me I called his name and showed him a treat and he came back right away. It was a short walk and I think that helped too - I don't want him to be stressed too much. When we got closer to our house he was much more relaxed and he didn't even pulled that hard. I'm hopeful! I wonder though if neutering him will not make things worse. He is scheduled for the procedure in the end of February so I have some time to work with him before that.
