It actually can be cheaper than feeding kibble, but it takes more leg work to find good sources and a variety of meats. And with only one dog, you can't quite save by buying bulk, but it still can be done cheaply. Dogs certainly don't need $8 a pound steak.

I did it for two years, and it was cheaper than Orijen. It's probably about the same cost as the $60 bags of food I buy now.

Can you feed just her the core and your other dogs super5mix? It won't be as cheap if they were all on super5mix, but it will be cheaper than having them all on core.

That's an option. But after the lamb is gone I'm going to get the chicken in the Super5Mix and see if she'll tolerate it. She's not a big fan of Core anyway, I think it's too crunchy for her. She'll eat it, but not very happily.
