Lucky has a growth under his lower jaw. About the size of a pencil eraser. Lucky has been scratching his lower jaw again anything he can access...he is obviously uncomfortable with this thing. The vet took a blood sample to be analyzed for issues. The results came back, and there are no health issues...good news for sure. Now he is scheduled for surgery to have it removed, and have his teeth cleaned as well. He will have to wear a cone unfortunately...vet said a couple weeks...ouch. We have never had a good experience with any of our shelties wearing a cone. I wonder about those inflatable collars...any one care to address this issue...sure would appreciate it. He is scheduled for Oct 12th...any wise words? Clock is ticking.

I also use the inflatable cones. They're fantastic. The dogs don't mind them at all, and mine use them as pillows too. The very best alternative I've found to the dreaded cone! I got mine on Amazon.
I used the inflatable when Teddy had his surgery and it worked great. The 1 downside was I would reinflate it about 1 time a week when it got a little soft. Was much better than the cone of shame.

I spoke with Vet's assistant yesterday, and she warned us to be cautious in using the donut because some dogs can bypass it and scratch the stitches. She said the donut devices are not necessarily the best solution to the use of the traditional cone. Any thought?
