an alternative way to do ears

Okay, well the breeder of Cameo Farms shelties was going to show us how to keep ears down instead of gluing them using hoof flex and powdered pumice but She's in the hospital with a broken hip, and things aren't looking good. Does anyone else know what to do with those materials?
 
I am not totaly sure but I believe you put on the hooflex on the tips then coat it in the pumice to weigh the ears down, I could be wrong though.
