An emotional week for me....

This week the daughter of a prominent public person died by hanging herself. She was 14 years old. This family has taken an incredibly courageous step by publicising her death and speaking frankly about the unknowns about teenage suicide.

This has rocketed me back 2.5 years ago with the suicide of my 19 year old daughter, followed so very quickly by the death of my forever pup, Timber, who joined her up at the bridge.

I miss them both so very much. I lost them both by accident. There were no signs, no forewarnings. One day they were alive, and the next they weren't.

But they are together now, and I take heart in that.

Hug your loved ones close each night, and never take anything for granted. Love is everything.
Oh Barb- there are no words to comfort you that I can think of. My heart goes out to you; I could say how brave and courageous you are, but what other choice is there, so I don't have words for you, only that I think of you often and hope that dogs like ours lessen the pain.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I have a 15 year old daughter and a 9 year old son and I can't even begin to fathom the hole in your heart that losing a child would leave. I'm glad to read that you have some better days and that you're continuing on as well as you can. I think that continuing on and keeping their memory alive is the greatest honour we can give our lost loved ones. (((HUGS)))

Well, just when I think I'm fine, someone comes along and asks me how I'm doing....and suddenly I tear up. I guess I'm not my normal self at the office, otherwise people wouldn't keep asking.

All I know is that my back is giving me huge pain, so I guess, I'm a little more stressed then I thought.

A few more cleansing breathes, and I'll get through this. The thing that brough this home to me is the courage of a local and very public family whose 14 year old daughter hung herself. They went public with this. And it was splashed all over the local news.

I'm so supportive of what they did...despite the fact they got beat up for sensationalizing suicide and potentially encourage wanne-be's. They brought the ugly little secret out into the open. I could not do that at first, but am able to do so now.

Thanks everyone for your love and support.

It really does set you back when someone comes along and asks how you are. There are times when you really don't want to talk about what it is and how you are.

Hope you got lots of hugs and kisses from your two furboys to help you through last week. Take care of your back.

I saw the articles in the paper and thought how courageous it was for them to go so public with this and face the comments, positive and negative, at a time when they are grieving so much.

Barb, I cannot imagine the emotions you are going through.
I lost Sassy in '07 and it ripped me apart, I cannot imagine loosing one or three of my triplet daughters or even Mya at this point.
Hang on to your blessings..your 'two boys' and your son.
Thinking of you when I hug Mya and my daughters.

Lots of hugs from the west coast.
