Angus agility trial

Mine always seemed to play off the crowd- for some reason with strange dogs around and people they never met they focused on me better. I had a big male that the entire competition time never got a default. He was not fast but he often ribboned because he was precise-- I had a ball with him. The first competition was like "what is going on" but after than they settle down..they seem to know... As others have said it is a time for you and your dog, wining and ribbons are just cherries on top of a well iced cupcake.. nice but not necessary for the pleasure.

How'd it go? I have wanted so bad to compete with Brodie but just haven't and at 7, i am rethinking him in agility. Brodie LOVES agility, and Brodie is FAST.... Brodie however does like to fly off stuff, sometimes contacts aren't as important to him as the woosh of air flowing through his fur that he gets when he flies off the seesaw. Brodie is a speed demon, he could probably care less about the importance of the rules....

I will tell you, we've competed in Rally and he is titled. I was a nervous wreck - he's not a friendly sheltie, he is all things anxiety and wired too tight and sometimes acts like satan around other dogs. We showed up hours and hours early for his first trial to get there during lunch figuring he'd have a while to bark and get tired before they started back in competition. This dog never made a peep, this dog who barks at EVERYTHING never barked once.

I always figured he's a vain dog, no way was he going to belittle himself when 'on stage' - he acted like a true prince. I hope Angus had a bit of vanity in him as well. I think they KNOW when they are the spotlight and they play it up! Hope all went well!!!

Piper pee’d in the ring (in his defence it WAS an outdoor trial😂) in his first pre novice obedience trial and when working on his OTCH (obedience trial champion) title it took us 14 tries in a row to get it. He’d gotten the first 2 legs bang bang and then DQ after DQ. I guess he enjoyed it so much he didn’t want to stop😂.
You just never know what to expect!

It went okay, I knew he wouldn't qualify because although it was an fairly easy course, I couldn't trust Angus to stop at the A frame, dogwalk and seesaw. He is too fast to do otherwise. It was a new venue for him, he's a great backyard agility dog with a very talented instructor. She ran him in the time to beat and he was a bit better. When I ran him he jumped off the frame at a dangerous height, with her he wouldn't dare do that.
The instructors dog is a very accomplished agility dog, and I love running her, but she has developed a depth perception vision issue so she knocks down jumps, so she didn't qualify I feel bad for her, my instructor has worked so hard and can't get to excellent jumpers. So who knows! We continue to have fun, that's all that matters to me!
