Angus agressive after neutering

With Angus this sounds like a bit of I WAS HERE FIRST. When Sasha and Newton are at your feet, they are getting attention. After his neuter he is making up for that lost time for his share, I WANT TO BE FIRST, and those are my feet, that is my place on the couch, I get petted first.

Lucky always lays on my husband's feet and will nudge Lady to let her know that is his spot, no fighting though. Lucky has to be out the door first. Lady knows her place and lets him go. Of course Lucky was here FIRST. Oh my!
They really love each other, and are like connected by velcro most of the time, except those feet, and out the door.

Lady hated her crate, and the breeder informed me of that. After she got her spay she loved her crate, now go figure???

I'm far from an expert, just thinking, you have your hands full. I really feel bad Angus is doing this, he is such a cute sheltie, and so is Newton.

By re-introducing them by seperation is a smart thing to do. Good Luck!!!
 
Janet, How is Angus doing with his aggresion? How old is Angus, just wondering if age at the time of surgery has anything to do with it? I have never had a male so I know nothing of neutering.

Sable, you make alot of sense here. When my boy's play gets beyond play and into nasty, its usually because of one of two things: Food (why does he get some and I don't) and hierarchy (I'm the man!). I'm rethinking my earlier thoughts, it really could be that Angus is just reinstating himself in the pecking order.

And how do you fix? By doing what you do all the time anyway! (We've seen the videos!) One on one time for all. And balance. With Bacca now on meds, I give him his pills in tasty little pill pockets. So when Bacca gets his pill pocket, Indy gets a Zuke at exactly the same time.
 
Angus is 9 months old now.
We haven't had further aggression from Angus...but we are watching him closely and limiting the interaction with Newton.
Angus has always been MUCH happier to just play with Figaro and has never been cuddly with me. He has always hung around Figaro so much that we call him "Figgy's chew toy." I think the problem is a chain reaction with Figgy treating Angus a bit different and then Angus taking it out on Newton or Sasha. Newton just screams and ducks for cover; Sasha fights back or goes and pounces on Indy. Indy has a sore ear tip and Newton has two small scabbed areas (one on each rear leg) from all of the exchanges (no marks on Angus or Sasha)...and no eruptions in the past 36 hours or so. We have been dividing and conquering a lot...two in four out, three in three out, all in with 3 adults supervising, etc.
 
Well, all has been good for over 2 weeks now, and we are letting the dogs out together again. The turning point was to get Figaro to back off on his dominance displays on Angus. Life is much happier now, and Angus has gotten himself back into Alan's good graces.

I'm still watching the littler bugger as he is chewing up everything. I just saw today that he has chewed the spines of several books in the bookshelf. GRRRR

Funny that I'm reading this now as I just took my sheltie pillow away from Diva. She chewed the corner out of it. :mad: I guess the dozen toys she has isn't enough:rolleyes2:

Glad things are going better with Angus and the other dogs. Hopefully the chewing phase will pass.
 
It could be your baby is testing his new authority now that his family jewels are no longer there. Since I have so many dogs I have seen some rather interesting things ging on like males asserting their maleness after surgery like this. My very docile Rocky wanted to attack all rthe male dogs in the house to see where he now fit in. I know it sounds weird, but this is what male dogs will do after being neutered if other males are around. Rocky never went after the girls, just the other males. It seemed to dissipate after a couple of months. Rocky no longer does this with new babies coming into the house, but right after the surgery I thought Rocky was trying to just assert what he thought was his "dominance"
