DISCLAIMER: I know nothing and I mean nothing about pack dynamics (other than Ron and I are the alphas and MMM is NOT). The only thing that crossed my mind when I read all of that is, isn't Newton still intact? Could that be it with Angus?
That is just the thought that crossed my mind.
Ohhhh and by the way, I know nothing about being nuetered either...........ohhh and this is Jan, NOT Ron!!!!

Yep...hormone and pack dynamics. When Angus was also intact, he knew where he stood in the line-up: below Figaro and above Newton. And now...he's confused. Newton is by no means acting in any sort of dominant way towards Angus. But Figaro has definitely added a new dance to his "lets chew and wrestle play" that Angus and Figgy have been carrying on non-stop ever since Angus was big enough for the tussle.

Janet, I have a great friend who's 77. She's raised dogs all her life. Her mantra is, "They'll work it out." 99% of the time, they do. It took two weeks for the girls to act as if Beckon existed. That said, we did have to rehome Jax (who we took as a rehomed rescue after he attacked Annie Laurie so badly he sent her to the emergency room. I still believe that they could have learned to live together, but we weren't willing or able to take the time to watch them 24 hours a day for 2-3 weeks, shaping behavior.

With how sudden this is, I would look toward it being that he is somehow still in some pain. Just with how out of nowhere it is, it must be that something is hurting

so sorry to hear about Angus. put that video camera to work and tape the dogs as much as you can- lots of times, you can see stuff in the video that you didn't see while it was happening. that might help you to figure out what is going on................
I think you have hit it on the nose Janet. I do think it is something differant in Angus's scent that is making the whole happy circle do an about face,and taking notice,something is differant.(way differant)

I agree! I don't know what I would do without my camera.
Taking pictures/movies with your camera is especially helpful in medical situations.With the exception of one time in my life I've only owned one dog at a time, so I can't give any advice. Poor Newton. :sadsmile:
Well I've palpated all over Angus without a peep. The incision is well healed and has no redness, heat, or signs of any irritation.
Newton, unfortunately, now has a small wound on his R rear leg and yipes softly when the leg is touched. He is walking without limping but he's definitely hiding out again.
