Angus is missing

Has anyone been able to get in touch with Janet? I mean there seems to be alot of questions that need to be answered, like
1.is he Chipped
2. Has anyone gone to where he disappeared?
3. Are the temporary owners searching? What have they done?
4. Has anyone put out a have a heart trap? If so what locale? Anyone checking it?
5. Any sightings in the area?

I think its great that the community has come together to help find Angus, but I think these answers need to be answered to help move the search forward so they are giving the appropriate details to shelters/rescues/animal clinics. Can someone Contact Janet to find out these answers?!

If I know Janet, she is doing absolutely everything humanly possible to find Angus. We haven't heard, I suspect, because she's spending every minute searching for her lost boy.

Janet, please know my heart is searching with you.

I know she said earlier her internet due to weather was spotty at best. That was why I was suggesting if someone who has her phone number could call her to get the latest updates so that those on the forums who are going above and beyond are giving accurate details to the shelters, em vets..etc...

I'm trying right now it is 9:06,and I have got no answer on her cell.I have asked that she try to call me either tonite,or if she ca'nt call me,possibly even post to scan & read the posts.

I'm so worried about her, when we said goodbye last night, she was crying.I know everyone here is opening up thier arms and wrapping Janet,Angus,Alan,Russel, and saying prayers. We can only stay positive. If I do not hear from her tomorrow,we will go forward and do what we can as far as radio,TV.She is extremely appreciative for all the support from everyone here.

With spotty internet because of storms,I'm not sure how much she can even read.I do know she can check mail at work.

I do know that Janet was in Canton,as she had a scheduled home health care visit,it was canceled, but she went anyhow. She told me she went close to the area of the residance, and stood out beside her car,and sang songs, she called & called.

I know,at the moment she turned her key off,she had hopes that Angus would come running at the sound of her voice. But that did not happen.Which only led to more despair. She stayed and walked, sang, and nothing.

I talked with Janet very early this am.And I told her Brian & I would travel there,to split up,and go to the area.
Unfortuneatley,Janet said it was not a wise thing to do,as it is not safe. Many people own firearms, and they unfortuneatle take trespassing seriously. And we may or could be in danger,if we were to be in the wrong place. I was not going to post the particulars about our phone conversation. But Janet said it is not safe there.

One comparison she made as far as the area of where Canton NC is,and the direct area Angus is lost in and hopefully is ok,is like finding a dog in the middle of Yellowstone National park.it is huge, vast.

The hay stands as high or higher than her.Unless someone, hunter,is walking the areas, and sees him, knows there is a reward etc..it would be his only probable reason for turning him in to the shleter.I know that soun'ds terrible, but its probably the truth.

I do know she has had contact finally with the trial home folks.I do believe they have talked to all the neighbors. But in my opinion, they may not be doing enough.
I don't mean to sound hateful, but one has to exhaust every measure, before you give up.And you can't always rely on someone calling animal control becuase they see a stray.I would hate that Angus would come face to face with somoeone that would hurt him.

I do not know if any of the shelties are chipped.nor do I have an answer to the Have-a-Heart Trap.
Yes..we do need some answers.I will tell you, this has been so very difficult for everyone.I know Janet & family is crushed. So much bad news this week.

Janet just called me.She is not at home at the moment,Russel is home, and she has no idea if they have internet connection.
One thing that Janet did say,is that in her talk with the family, they are treating this as though Angus no longer belongs to Janet. He is thier dog,so in some ways,Janet is very torn.

She did say she will try for internet when she arrives home, and try to give answers. And maybe she can give us some idea of if we can go forward in contacting radio,TV stations.
I know,if it were my dog, lost,I would not rest.I told her that I did not want her to think I was being rude, but Angus is thier dog, I feel.

He was only on a trial basis,as far as I am concerned, they have shown in some ways to be just a tad irresponsible in having a new dog in thier home. And not taking better measures to ensure his comfort those first few days.

Again, thank you everyone. Keep them in yor prayers please. He may be on his way home for all we know.Let's hope

Thanks Michele for the update! As far as the other people thinking that angus is theirs, he is not unless janet signed over AKC registration in their name and had a contract saying that she transferred ownership to them..As far as it looks its no different if these people were dog sitting for her. And as it seems this new owners seem very irresponsible!!!!!!!!! SO If I were Janet given the circumstances I would just rely on its her and her family in the hunt than for Angus and not involve the temporary family at all!
As far as trespassing goes as long as you stay on the road its not trespassing:wink2:
Did Janet have a chance to go to the house and hunt around? Maybe if she found footprints she could tell what direction he initially headed..and although its a long shot after so many days its atleast a starting point.

Regardless of "whose dog" Angus is, surely Amber doesn't think Janet and Alan just quit loving or caring about him the minute he left their home. She should appreciate the effort on their part to help find the boy. I'm sick over this and would GLADLY contribute to a reward fund. I can paypal $ immediately. Maybe the money could be used to repay the new owners for their purchase so Janet could get Angus back, if she so desires. I think at this point, that's what I would want. But I understand the difficult situation they were in.

I was hoping to open this thread to good news tonight. But, like everyone else, I'm not giving up hope.

I have been following this thread and am just heartsick over Angus being lost. The poor little guy must frightened by now.

Just a few thoughts. Use them if you think they will help.

Contact every vet, shelter, rescue (even non sheltie) private no kill shelters, groomers, trainers, pet store, boarding kennel, dog club, sheltie breeder and anyone else who has anything to do with dogs in a 50 mile radius. (I know that sounds like a long distance, but if someone picked him up he could be quite a ways away) The odds are good that they will be willing to keep an eye out for him and will probably be willing to post a flyer and picture. Dog lovers are dog lovers. While doing this in person is ideal, it can be done by phone or email or even by mail. You should be able to get out of town phonebooks from your local phone company.

If you haven't already, contact the local police and sheriff's departments. While they won't go looking for him for you, they might be willing to keep an eye out for him. After all, a lot of them own dogs too.

See if you can get a scout group or a church youth group or someone to take this on as a project. Kids have boundless energy and will really work hard for something they believe in. Maybe they would be willing to go door to door or put flyers in local stores or even check shelters.

Get a local tv station and/or newspaper to do a human interest piece on Angus. News media are always looking for stories and this one has a built in hook--a "lassie come home" story.

Not sure if any of this will help you, but I thought I'd throw it out there.

Meanwhile, Angus will be in my thoughts and prayers.

i know i live way out here in Canada but a few years ago i was in SC and met a few people from NC, i have an old friend down in NC near canton (hope i spelled it right) i passed along the message of angus missing and sent him a picture, he said he already sent it to his mom that does animal rescue work down there, as well he's passing it along to anyone near him. I forgot to ask what the name of the rescue his mom works for i think its a small community based rescue that runs out of someones house, but know they are looking for him. Sorry i didnt think of this contact sooner i just realized it and contacted him immediatly.

we will find angus! and he will be home soon. Positive thoughts

Thank you.
Yes, Canton, NC is the town where he was lost.
No, Angus does not have a microchip.
Yes, he was wearing a collar with ID tag...still wearing the one I made for him so I would be the one contacted.
No the local TV will not do lost pet ads. They used to have an anchorwoman that was very involved in animal rescue and adoption, when she was killed in a car accident the program died with her.
Yes, I have been out to the area and trolled the regions where I could and stopped the car where it was safe to do so and sang and sang....
Yes, posters are up by the new family and by us.
Weather has continued to be terrible, thunderstorms nearly every day.
Yes, reward $$ is already in place. No one needs to send more money; between Amber, Teresa, Alan and I we have it covered.

Heavenly Father - you know how much Janet and her family are hurting right now. You also know how hard they are looking for Angus and grieving for Willow at this time. Please guide their steps in their search. You have led them to seek out each and every avenue that they can in order to bring Angus to everyone's attention in the area. Please guide Angus back to his re-home or his home or to someone who will take him in and contact the authorities. You care about us and You care about the animals You have allowed us to have. Surround Janet and her family with Your loving arms and bring them comfort at this time. Amen

Janet and family - many prayers are going up for you at this time. Know that you are surrounded by the love and prayers of all of us here.

Thank you.
