Angus, the gardening dog

I hate snakes too. I grew up in western South Dakota. Tons of rattlesnakes. I was walking Jazz one day on a long line and she lept into the tall grass and a couple seconds later threw a 2 ft snake up into the air, over her head and out of the graas right at me. I almost had a heart attack. Luckily it turned out to be a garter snake. Ok breathe again. She was part terrier and was a great hunter of all types of small creatures. Rodents didn't stand a chance.

I can just picture this - I would have been on the way out of there! Noah was always on squirrel patrol - didn't like them and they didn't like him. Emma does not like the birds - she sneaks up on them and chases them away from the other side of her fence. Pesky birds - trying to sit on her fence! or fly over her yard! How dare they!:smile2:

Am I the only mole lover here

I think they are SO cute. I could never kill one :o

Yea im with you on this one...I cant imagine one of mine ever being in the mindset to kill anything either though :confused2:
I know when they come across the cats "presents" they usually sniff it and walk away or try to poke it to get it moving...

Oh Angus was ever so careful with the mole he pulled out of its tunnel...it was quite alive when he pulled it out and was checking it over; not a scratch or a mark on it.

I"M THE MOLE MURDERER.

Figaro just "tagged the tunnel" for me...and got my attention to the fact that the ground was moving in a tunnel. He didn't dig his out and present it to me like Angus did his.

Our first sheltie was a little princess. She didn't like rain, wet grass, or getting dirty. She was the family dog when the boys were little. We were on one of our camping/fishing trips. At the time we were tent camping. So for Chewey we also had to bring a little rug so she would not get her little body dirty. So imagine the boys surprise, when all of a sudden, she jumped up and grabbed something that was underneath the corner of the tent. As quick as a wink she nabbed a vole and immediately gave it the death bite. After the kill, she returned to her rug, like nothing had happened. The boys were sure impressed with her doggy ability.

And it's good that your pups find the moles. They are very destructive and the holes are a hazard. Sticking dog hair down the holes seems to deter them from using a particular run. Another good use for dog hair.
