Yesterday at a local all-breed trial where there were OTCh teams, OTCh handlers, and OTCh wannabes Davina earned another HIT rosette.
This club ran the titling classes concurrently in connecting rings and each class had 24 entries. Novice normally the fastest of the classes finished first so when I learned our score, I felt confident that packing up and heading home to beat the traffic was in our best interest. However, first I wanted to watch the shelties compete in confirmation so I hung around awhile. After watching my handler compete, I left the confirmation rings and headed to my vehicle. It was just by chance that I passed the spot where they posted the Utility scores and they were low. Having just shown before this judge last Sunday I knew she was judging fairly.
The Open judge also scores fairly so I decided to hang around and watch the Open competitors perform knowing Davina and I will be with them soon. It's a good thing I opted to "hang around" as the highest Open score was a 194.
Davina earned the HIT with a score of 198.
This will be our last show in Novice. We have two HIT awards and that's two more than I ever expected to earn in this highly competitive area.
