Anyone else heading to Kentucky?

I just learned that two of the people I train with made Steeplechase Finals. Kim Terrill and Steeple, and Mica Tyler and Hemi. Both Steeple and Hemi are BCs from the same breeder, HobNob Kennels in Washington. Even though they aren't Shelties, they're both great dogs and have excellent handlers. Kim is the Training Director at Enchantment Pet Resort, where I train. My memory might not be so good, but I think she and Steeple won the Steeplechase event last year.

I'm back! We had an absolutely wonderful time at nationals. There were so many wonderful dogs and trainers from all around the world there. The courses were interesting and challenging. The judges did a great job and were very clear/kind to their volunteer workers. The hotel was amazing and the set-up at the site was very convenient.

Bella made it to the semifinals in Steeplechase, but E'd in the Grand Prix quarterfinals. I was happy with our effort regardless and there's always next year! I was so incredibly nervous the whole time I know poor Bella thought an alien had taken over her momma's body. :rolleyes2: It's silly, but I let myself get so intimidated and my nerves got the best of us. It was fun though and a great experience. (hopefully I won't be so nervous next time!)

Interesting. This was on my FB from a trainer where I take Koji.
KY kinda sucks & I'm a glass half full person. Hard crap surface [glass shards found], major dust cuz indoors, equip not properly staked, cmon this nationals

I hope they get things together.

People always find something to complain about. The dust wasn't ideal, but overall everything ran incredibly smoothly for the first time at a new site after holding in the same place for so many years. There were a few people complaining (funny enough the same people that never seem to volunteer to make things better), but the rest of us had a blast.

Sounds like you and Bella had a great time and some nice runs. I hope there's some video on your blog. Did you happen to see my instructor, Kim Terrill, run with her BC, Steeple? They ended up in 2nd place in Steeplechase.

Here's a link to that run:

Yep! They had a very nice run. Steeple has some serious speed!

I watched (and taped) most of PSJ and Steeplechase finals. I think I have a video of Kim's run from the other side of the arena. I learn a lot from watching other trainers and so brought home a few gigs of video. :o

I just watched your videos. Very nice!

I know what you mean about learning from watching others run. I feel so fortunate to be able to train with Kim and also, Steven Moon. Steve didn't place but had some really nice runs with his BC, Slick and also his Min Schnauzer, Rocky, in Performance. I understand that there will be Steeple puppies sometime in December.
