Asta having surgery tomorrow

We had a very large lump taken off of our Ivy's hind leg several years ago too that had also come up very quickly. Same thing...no fluid, benign pathology tap but like you, I still worried. And it was a fatty tumor. It was so big the poor thing had stitches all the way up her leg, but it was such a relief to know it was nothing. She was 8 at the time.

Sending you good thoughts and pats to Asta for a good outcome tomorrow and an easy recovery. We'll look forward to your update. Hugs!

Best wishes for Asta and speedy recovery. Che tells Asta if she needs any help he will teach her how to remove cone of shame within seconds:yes:

Prayers, positive thoughts, hugs to Asta with an ASAP recovery.

It will be interesting to know exactly what this is. I hear ya, when you don't have an answer.

SHE'S OK!!!!! It was a fatty tumor. God, I burst into tears after they called. I had been holding in a lot of anxiety and out it came. I'm so blessed to have a fabulous vet group. The surgeon said it was tricky because of where it was, as someone mentioned, in the lower leg there isn't much tissue, just bone and ligaments and tendon, and it was "wound way down" she said. The other lump on her back was a cyst, as we all knew - she'd had that one for years but I thought it best to have it off while she's there.

Only unexpected finding - they are cleaning her teeth as well, and her lower incisors, "flea teeth" as we call them, were worn down to the roots and ripe for abscessing, so they need to come out. I know they aren't crucial teeth, but still. At least they caught it early.

Anyway, it could have been some horrible tumor so I'm looking on the bright side.

THANK YOU to all who had her in their thoughts and prayers. The support from this group is awesome. I so appreciate all the kind comments.

I must share a funny - when we pulled up to the vet hospital Asta got quite animated - but you could tell she was torn - dread (it's the BAD place) and excitement (they shower her with cookies, always!). She was hoping they'd make up for her missed breakfast, I guess!

Great news, Sharon! I'm sure you are so relieved. There's nothing that strikes fear in our hearts like those darn lumps. Hugs and pats to Asta! :smile2:
