Bacca having a flair up?

Barb,
With Seamus and his liver issues, he seemed to regress at times. Having to lie up near my head instead of his usual down by my feet and so very restless and overly sensitive to my every move. He also got very 'babified' about his meals and I had to bring him his dinner in the living room instead of the kitchen. He developed an aversion to some of the foods that he liked before he had issues.

Hope this helps. I don't remember what liver issues Bacca has, please to remind me.

Hugs,
Kate

Yes, this is exactly what is going on. Baccas was fine but suddenly in the last week he has decided that he has to sleep on top of me, and he is overly restless at night.

He seems like he wants to eat (wakes me up to feed him) but when I put his meal or treat in front of him he walks away. I had to feed him him dinner on my bed tonight. He would not eat anywhere else. This is pretty much where I was a couple of years ago. He won't eat biscuits anymore...only soft chews for treats.

This is deja vu from about 2 years ago when I had to change up his diet because he just refused to eat.

Bacca's issues? We don't really know. He's hypothyroid for sure. And his liver counts suggest potential liver shunt issues, but the vet and I have been holding off since he's only 4 years old. Hoping to control with diet and milk thistle supplements.

What do you feed?

Dr. Dodds liver cleanse diet is what I fed Seamus. He was more seriously damaged than Bacca, he had end stage liver failure, he died last September.

The diet enabled him to have a great quality of life that he otherwise would not have enjoyed. His illness sneaked up on all of us, his routine tests showed nothing other than a bout with nasty hepatitis which was cured. Unfortunately, the other illness took him over.

You have a heads up on Bacca and that is so great. You have his thyroid controlled and that is the most positive way to deal with potential illness. Also you have knowledge of his issues and that is such a plus.

Kisses for Bacca,

Kate

What's with the ear? Is the isolated to Callie or is this symptomatic of the disease?

I just can't figure out why Bacca is acting so strange these days.

Tonight he would not eat supper. He left the room and jumped on my bed. I finally brough the dish to him and he ate it there.

I don't think her ear issues are related to her thyroid. Prior to getting into rescue, she apparently had a bad ear infection that either wasn't properly treated or not treated at all so her right ear is very closed up which gives nasty little bugs the best place to settle in. so she periodically has flareups. vet said yeast this time so she's on antifungals for it and as of tonight, her ears are looking pretty good.
she has vertigo type issues when her ears are really bad and that can affect her appetite and how well she gets around. now that she is feeling better, she has returned to running to her food bowl and cleaning up every speck of edible goodness:smile2:

Hi Barb,, Sorry to hear about Bacca.. might be a good idea to get all his levels checked just for piece of mind... Boston had hyperthyroidism, usually soloxine kept it in check.... Hope he pulls through...

what kind of food is he on now ? i know at one time we both were feeding Horizons...
