Baker says hello!

Crazy huh? Now that Cubby is getting SO big, it's really hard to carry him up and down the staircase! Small would be good. I am really worried about our open railings (you can kind of see them in my icon) and afraid he will fall through. I never thought of that with Shay, but I am worried about Cubby.

Baker update:

I re-braced/tipped tonight. He was so amazing - just relaxed on my lap for the entire procedure! I was shocked! I used a small breathe right strip for the brace (had to trim it a bit & still used the hair glue) . It was way easier than the tape I used the first time, and I think it will be much easier to remove when it's time to give the ears another break. That was the hard part for me - Baker had a hard time with me doing the removal - made me feel bad.

My mom came over to meet him today & agreed with me: he seems too small to be real. :) Baker was great with her - not afraid at all, and actually stayed on her lap longer than he wants to on mine. Of course she had the advantage of a huge shiny cross necklace that caught his eye.

We used to think all the time Ruutu was going to go diving off of our stairs. We would tell him to get down or back up etc. but he never did go through them. He does though like to lay his head in between them while sleeping.

Yay! Grandma time! We like grandma time because we can go and do errands and know everything is okay. Daddy is not a good mommy.

My little Baker is 11 weeks old today! He is happily chewing on a new nylabone toy at my feet as I type this.

I took his ear "stuff out last night - what a chore! He was tolerant, but not happy. I think they are sitting a little higher on his head already. We're giving them a day off - back to the tape & glue tomorrow. The hardest to remove was the brace, so I may try a breathe right strip next.

House breaking is going fairly well - IF we are in the back room (where the magic door to outside is). My timing was a bit off yesterday, we were in the kitcken & he just stood there & peed. At least I caught him doing it, so we could run outside, but he was pretty much done already. :gaah

He is really cute, for a brown dog.:wink2: His face is so kissable.

He actually doesn't look that small. How is his weight and height doing?

I don't really have an accurate way to weigh him at home. I tried the "me on the scale alone vs. me on the scale holding him" method when we first brought him home & it was exactly 5 pounds difference. Hubby thought that was too heavy. Two days later he had his first vet visit & he weighed in at 3lbs 2oz.

If you look at the 11 week pictures with his new toys you can see his size compared to the 12' tiles he's on.

I found a dog size prediction application where you select the breed, enter current date & weight. According to that I can expect him to be 9lb 2oz when he's an adult. To me that seems awfully small, so I'm hoping it's not spot on.

We go for shot #2 on Monday, so will get a current weight. I can TRY to get his height...might be a bit of a challenge.

Pretty sure we're going to keep him, no matter what size we end up with. :biggrin2:

We go back for our second vet visit next Tues. I just weighed Cubby at 9.8 pounds! I also taught him to go down the stairs on his own and he went up half the staircase on his own, mostly because he is getting HEAVY! Sigh.

Way to go cousin Cubby! I remember it took FOREVER for Trace to do stairs on his own. And our camper steps were so steep, I didn't even want him to try going down those - he would have ended up in a pile on the ground. Baker has it much better since we now have a deck & "normal" steps into the camper.

Way to go! I guess I had it easy, Ruutu took the steps his first day home with us. I freaked then my mom said it was cool and just to let him... that being said, he also climbed a 26" gate the first day home with me.... so.. at least you guys can confine your pups :biggrin2:
