Baker says hello!

I can't even see Bonnie's nails with all her foot fur! I will have to check hers when she wakes up.

Have you measured how high Baker is? I know he is quite small so I was wondering how Bonnie compares. I had a go at measuring her but she was so wriggly it is pretty much an educated estimate.

Kristie, it's been almost three years and I still lose it sometimes...a few weeks ago I called Fillion Callahan and dissolved into tears. I still can't read the Sheltie Angels threads. I end up sniveling every time. So I don't think you're anywhere out of line.

When I went to see the puppies and make my choice, I noticed with relief that Fillion had white toenails! And then 5 turned black...sigh. You don't noticed the color under the fur.

Thanks - I know I will never be done mourning Trace. I have never felt this way about a canine before - he was my "heart dog". I believe someone, maybe Cara?, started a thread about heart dogs. I have wanted to post, but just can't, not yet.

Baker has helped so much by bringing joy & laughter (and lack of sleep) into our home! He amazes me more every day that we have him.

I do have to regretfully report that, in my opinion, he is losing some of his incredible cuteness. I was watching him play tonight and he just seems to look "off". It's hard to describe. I told hubby & he didn't disagree. He said it had always his opinion that really cute babies end up being not so attractive adults, and the reverse - "ugly" babies (and yes, sorry, I do think they exist) grow up to be attractive adults. He followed that up with "Baker was just too cute when we brought him home".

So who knows what my little Baker boy will look like as an adult. I just know I will love him to pieces no matter what. He has been my light after a very dark time in my life.

Speaking of "dark" I am so freaked about his nails turning black - may end up just having a groomer deal with them. I'm totally afraid of black nails... :hide

Baker is pretty wiggly also but will try to get a measurement soon.

It's a phase. They look all out of proportion and stuff. Cubby is all head and tail. Shay was positively horrifying.

Baker will turn out lovely. He is a very well put-together dog and the parts will all match back up.

Thanks Cara, but it's just the look of his face that has changed. I'll post new pics Saturday. It's so hard to describe - almost like he has an older dog's too light face - just looking odd to me lately

One day you look down and the little round ball of fluff you brought home is all out of proportion. When did his legs get that long? Those ears won't ever fit his head. His nose gives Pinocchio something to aspire to! OMG I adopted Ichabod Crane!
It all evens out and he will be cuter than ever!

Thanks for the encouragement. I have a friend at work that has Collies, has owned a Sheltie in the past. She still thinks Baker is very cute, but agrees that he doesn't look like a "normal" Sheltie. She says he reminds her of a fox. I'm seeing more of a fox-mouse cross.

Will sure be interesting to see him grow into an adult...:pop

Got Baker's AKC paperwork in the mail today (along with two collars from cousin Cubby!). So...probably too late to return him, huh? :wink2:
