Banana time!

Both my Sheltie and non-Shelties love bananas. I only feed them a small bite because I am concerned with too much sugar. Is it OK to give them a whole banana? Or, is the amount of sugar in bananas too much?

Green bananas are very good for dogs, much better than a ripe banana. I try to tell my mom not to feed them as much as she does but at 94 she really doesn’t listen to me! Definitely too much sugar isn’t good for them.
Here’s an article by Dr. Karen Becker on the benefits of bananas. You may have to submit your email address to read the article.

Thanks for the link. After joining (I really hate to have to join just to read), I read the entire article. I also checked out Dr. Becker on the internet and found that she definitely promoted herself which is OK. After some searching, I determined that she is legitimate and seems to be well recognized for holistic dog health.
I'm really glad I can now include bananas as dog treats!!!!!

I don't think I have eaten a whole banana here since Willow came to join our family.:)
Yesterday to get Blueberry to come in the house (she’ll be way on the other side of the yard watching me as I call her) I showed her a banana and then asked her if she wanted a piece. She came running!
I first tried just saying banana but got zero response :ROFLMAO:.
Definitely her favourite food lol.
