Mine go into the bathtub where I use a spray attachment that attaches to the shower head. I find that works better than anything else for my needs.

Yup, same here. It's quite a long hose too, so I can reach her even if she's trying to hide on the far side of the tub. It works much better than my old cup method... trying to rinse with a cup of water :no:.

I would not let my dog share a human bathtub with my daughter. I don't know I just wouldn't. I guess I think that no matter how hard you clean it still is not going to be as clean. And my daughter has a very sensitive skin.
We don't have a hose, and backyard. I know people use a hose to wash their dogs in backyard. We live on the 2nd floor of the 3 story condo building, no backyard.

I don't use the tub for a very different reason - mine is newer and acrylic and doggie claws could scratch that surface, especially if you had a dog frantically trying to climb out. This is not an issue with older enamel tubs. I am positive that with proper cleaning there is no reason your tub couldn't be as sanitary after a doggie bath than after a human bath. Tubs are not made of porous materials and are easily cleaned disinfected.

Our sheltie gets a bath in my shower which is tile and has an extra flex hose I put in just for that purpose. :wink2:
 
I have always washed them in my shower because they have always been walk-in and not step-over. With a 95 pound older Aussie, the tub is not the best choice. However, shower and a hand held and it works great.

Then it could be once a week. As long as you use an appropriate shampoo (a mild one made for puppies, not humans) he'll be fine. I blow dry them with a hairdryer on low while I brush until they're about half dry. In the winter I dry a bit more.

As others have said, be sure to brush before you bathe, and always mist the coat with water when you brush to keep the hair from breaking.

I bathe once per month and brush thoroughly once per week. I prefer bathing really young. No need to have his first bath months later and have him go nuts. :yes:

I put the laundry in the garage when we built the house which included a laundry tub. When I got the pup I got a shower hose attachment for the faucet and my lord has that been a god send! Bath time is cut in half. I used to fill the laundry tub and use the cup method.

I bathe both boys once a month because they are a dirty dog mess in that time. And today is that day. Oh joy oh rapture.
 
Fletcher got his last night to get ready for the show this weekend. I am using isle of dogs shampoo and conditioner.
