I would say she was mostly likely not house broken. And since she lived outdoors she most likely has no clue how to "clue" you in when she needs to go. That being said and the fact that you cant shut the door, get a baby gate to go across. Once she has weaned the puppies start housebreaking 101 with her. Also if shes just peeing in doors (I cant remember if you said that or both) But if its just pee have the vet check for a UTI, common in females.

Thanks for the advice. The baby gate is a great idea. She doesn't pee in the house, just poop! Or at least, not pee that I notice. She did have the UTI when we first got her but she doesn't exhibit any of those signs anymore, thankfully!
We got bells and hung them from cords on the important doors. It took about 3 weeks of our ringing the bells when we were opening the doors for our 2, 6 month boys to learn to ring the bells to let us know they needed out to do the bathroom thing. It works really well for us. We learned to do this from a friend who had a yellow lab she trained. When we go to her house our boys ring her bells when they need to go out. I hope things work out for you.

Thank you for a great idea! I'm going to try this and teach my two pups at the same time as Hadley. I'm happy to report she actually hasn't had an accident since I wrote this. And Last night she got locked out of the bedroom w/out me knowing almost all night and no accidents! Maybe she knew I was writing this and got embarrassed lol

Walmart sells bells for this purpose specifically in the dog section (some have them some don't though). The bells come on a streaching bungie coord and can be put over almost any door handle, it also comes with some poop bags and an instruction sheet with tips.
As for my tips on training your pup to ring the bells. Make sure what ever door you put them on you walk in & out of, so the pup understands "Ring the bell, go outside". If you put it on the backdoor and never go out that way unless your walking the pup, they might not pick it up as fast.
