Bed preferences/options

In the boys kennels they have these beds from Amazon. I like that they are thick pads that consist of both padding for joints and padding for cooling. The covers are indeed waterproof and washable. I have 2 of the mediums in 30" wire kennels. The covers are washed regularly and have lasted for 2 1/2 years now! For around the house, I fell prey to those shaggy looking 'anxiety/calming' beds on a Facebook ad. They are like these Amazon ones but were far more expensive, sad to say. Neither sheltie is really anxious nor do they need calming, but they both enjoy curling up in these on and off. Our cat sleeps in them as well. They, too, wash and dry well. I've had mine for at least a year and a half now and while one is almost ready to be replaced, they have really held up well. Brodie was never a bed sleeper outside of his kennel until after he turned 2, Deacon has always loved these for daytime napping. They were especially comforting to him when he was a wee pup. https://www.amazon.com/Active-Pets-...dog&qid=1629751912&s=pet-supplies&sr=1-4&th=1

With Angus I figured out it is not the bed but where it is. He likes caves so other than the end of the couch next to me.... under the coffee table is Angus den #1. Tried a few beds but he had no interest until it was tucked in the corner next to me, he goes there now and will likely increase in winter. Spitfire likes in front of the fan or wherever. He had no interest in the bed until Angus went in it. I imagine come winter he will go more to steal it. That bed is a cheap one the feed store had. Tried raised and others. Oh and when Sca was here beds got eaten so no beds as that got expensive. They were fine until one day he would pull it out and flip it over, within a day it was done for.

I have so many friends that buy those type of beds when they go on sale! But I highly doubt Missy would use one. She likes to stretch out and gets hot easily.

My parents have a couple large Kirkland dog beds at their house. Missy has never laid in them. She prefers laying on the cool tile floor or the ottoman in the middle of the living room.
I’m not a fan of this one either. It’s huge (can easily hold 2 dogs) so takes up too much floor space and Blueberry has started chewing on it and pulling out large threads. It went to the garbage today...I don’t want her to get an obstruction! Now if I could just stop her from eating dog hair (the stuff on the floor lol not her own)!

We have a big variety also. The one that gets the most use by all three looks like what Ann linked to. It has bolsters on 3 sides and a removable cover. Then we have thick mats that are washable rectangles, there is no foam or filling in them. They prefer those in the summer or just for a change. Faith's favorite spot is "her" corner of the couch! I did splurge on plush fuzzy bed that was advertised on the Cricket Chronicles, and none of the dogs is interested!!! :rolleyes2:
I bought something similar...Blueberry thought it was a big toy!:ROFLMAO:....took it back!

Leftover three inch memory foam cut to a rectangle from an old mattress topper, wrapped in a cheapie couch throw from Walmart or Biglots. Easy to throw in washer, no zippers to mess with. If my "diggers" ruin the throw oh well! I even found a cute one for like 5.00 with paws and fire hydrants and bones on it. They aren't used at all till winter. Koko never sleeps on a dog bed.
Great idea to use up the memory foam Margi! I was thinking one of these days of taking the memory foam off my bed and now I know what to do with it!

I agree they are huge and take up a lot of space. My parents have a large living room so in front of the fire place, they really don't take up too much space. Plus they have a large (50lbs) border collie/aussie mix that primarily lays in them. But they probably only need 1. Because the aussie puppy doesn't lay in them. Luckily none of our dogs tear up beds.

Missy has slept in her new bed in my office most of the day today. I turned on the oscillating tower fan and she enjoys that too. Although she moved to the floor a few minutes ago. I'll take it as a win though!
