ROTFL! My mom always says that she hates her voice! It doesn't bother me that much though. Because of her I've taught Smudge all kinds of tricks. Had I not seen her show I probably would have given up and not trained Smudge at all. She makes it so easy!

Did you ever see the show at night on Animal Planet with the guy. He's a dog trainer too but he doesn't use treats. I think they stopped airing his show but man, he was an awesome dog trainer. He believed more in trust with the dog than rewarding them or correcting their behavior.

I didn't mean it like that. It's just my opinion, and everybody's entitled to their own. I didn't know it had been talked about before.
sometimes treats dont always work. having raised many guide dog puppies I have learned that some dogs do need a little force to get them to do what you want them to. I had a doberman that i raised that also didnt like going up stairs, treats did not work for her, plus since she was going to be placed with a blind person treat training is not very practical (we only use treats when the dog is young after that they will get a leash correction if they dont obey). The dog has to learn to obey without getting a treat when he/she does a good job. I was told by the head trainer to just grab the leash and start walking and yes she did fight going up the stairs, but she did learn and today she is a certified guide dog. I am all for positive training but sometimes you do need to give a correction, or make the dog do something it doesnt want to. While I dont agree with all of C.M.'s techniques, most of his cases are do or die for the dog. While I do like Victoria most of her cases are just untrained dogs.
vicky2 what show are talking about? hopefuly not the show At The End Of My Leash with Brad Pattinson! That guy was abusive!!! I have seen video on youtube of him lifting a dog off the ground by its collar smacking a dog in the nose for looking at another dog

I'm only going to add one more thing and then I'll shut up. I've heard this saying over and over again. I agree with it: There are no bad dogs, only bad owners. It's your job as a responsible dog owner to take care of your dog. If people would take care of their dogs like they should we wouldn't have pit bulls fighting each other, people walking the other way when they see a German Shepard walking in the park, or Mastiff's that attack their owner's girlfriend

No big deal. I just remembered that a while back there was a thread about Cesar Millan that became quite heated and I didn't want to start that again here. Especially since this thread was originally about a different trainer.
