Belle of the ball...

As we were up north to visit with my wife's mom, who's 99 years old, I decided to bring Willow along to visit. I don't believe she has ever had so much attention. The residents fawned all over her, as did the staff. Willow was so well behaved, complete with wagging tail for anyone coming over to admire her, that I was ready to look at her tattoo to make sure it really was Willow. She likes people but normally is a bit reserved with strangers. When we got back to the motel room she crashed. Apparently being loved is exhausting.

I can just imagine how much Willow enjoyed all that attention! Elderly people in nursing homes don’t get a lot of attention…to get that 100% undivided attention by Willow must’ve been a wonderful experience for them. A win win for everyone!
My mom lives with me and she’s turning 97 in one month…she fawns over my dogs all the time. They can do no wrong in her eyes (ok…except Blueberry who’s always misbehaving lol). She feeds them off her plate (drives me crazy) and will happily pick up Piper or Blueberry (Finnie is much too big for her) and give them all the attention they want.
My mom has an ottoman in front of her chair where she watches tv…she made the mistake one day of calling Blueberry up on it. Blueberry woke her up the other day (after dinner nap) by sticking her nose in my mom’s face and barking :ROFLMAO:.
I swear it’s all the attention from my dogs that keeps my mom going..96 years old and she still does some of her own banking, pays her bills and only uses a walker. Of course Piper is her favourite with Finnie a close second.

I wondered if the fleet of walkers and wheel chairs might bug her, but nope. She put her paws up in laps only when invited. I don't know who taught her wheeled vehicle manners but they did a good job. :)
For some reason my dogs don’t mind the walker in the house. Outside is another story! Blueberry of course is the worst lol!

Willow just always seems to step up to the moment she's in. A very intuitive girl. Glad the residents and Willow all had a lovely time. My dog club used to do assisted living visits and the residents just loved it also. I was amazed our Shelties at the time put up with the wheelchairs and walkers also, I wouldn't have bet on it.

Perhaps dogs prefer the smell of old people, I read in the paper awhile back that older folks smell different.
I am glad Willow had a great time visiting. All that tail wagging is hard work. As beautiful as she is it's no wonder that everyone wanted to visit. I bet she even got an invitation to visit again.
