Bentley gets a raw treat!

Raw Diet

Well, all this talk on the raw diet and I am making the switch this week. My girlfriend Cindy who has Golden's feeds it also and sells Bravo so I will be getting it from her.Shadow and Stng have eaten it before and loved it. I am getting Tues. from Cindy 5lbers of turkey and chicken and some duck necks.I need to take weight off Shadow and I am hoping this will work better than the kibble.:biggrin2:

Oh my. :uhoh: What a smashing outfit, Bentley! :biggrin2:

I had a blast watching mine eat their turkey legs, but it took them FOR. EV. ER. to eat it. Then when Smudge got finished Fluffy pranced around in front of him to show him that she still had some, and that she would not share. :rolleyes2:

I know your dogs love you, but now they're going to REALLY love you!

Good luck with Shadow's weight management. I bet it will do the trick for him and he'll feel more satisfied eating raw.

Here's Chinook in his outfit when he is about to eat something that is rather bloody. Without it, he gets it all over himself and looks like he went hunting for it himself. Maia, on the other hand, hates being dirty so she does not touch the meat too much and inhales it as fast as she can.

How cute. Ember needs such an outfit. I wonder what I can do to cover her legs.:smile2:

LOLLLL
Toffee eats like a little prince, he doesn't like chicken legs... he licks it, drags it around.. licks it again.. leaves it.. then the cat drags it around.. at the end of the evening, when he knows there is NOTHING else coming I hear him crunching it up
He also does NOT eat whole liver or whole anything... he likes it cut up a little.. but beef and lamb he will eat bigger pieces and larger bones, ribs etc
PS: Toffee lost a ton of weight from eating raw, he looks great

If...if I decide to do a raw treat like a chicken leg, should it be instead of a meal? Also, I'm afraid that if I feed it once, they'll turn up their noses at Orijen. :confused2:

Unless the dog is severely underweight, I would count it as a meal replacement. A chicken leg is about the right size for a meal for most Shelties, if you're feeding twice a day, and could even be a bit much for a really petite Sheltie. It may be a bit small for a large Sheltie, so I would add a raw egg, some cottage cheese or yogurt to complete the meal, or feed more at teh second meal.

Che eats 2 chicken necks or one chicken leg in the morning and meat/veggie/ fruit patty in the evening. He is at 37# and probably 19"-20 " tall and perfect for his weight. He gets about half a cup of kibble or equivalent homemade treats for training during the day.
Che inhales chicken necks but takes few minutes to get chicken leg down. It takes him much longer to work on turkey as he is not fond of it. He would not touch duck unless it cooked. He somewhat will eat rabbit.
