Best Puppy Food

I just went to Myra Savant Harris's seminar last month, and she said she agonized over food, going from raw to kibble to homecooked, and hundreds of hours of research...

Then it dawned on her that DOGS EAT POOP. It really doesn't matter what you feed them, because THEY EAT POOP. Whatever they do well and thrive on will work just fine.

I rarely feed the same bag of food twice in a row, and I rotate between foods and brands and proteins. A few nights ago, my dogs ate kibble, eggs, and Pedigree canned in the same meal. No issues.

So find something decent that works, and go with it. I personally like anything made by Champion, and right now my dogs are eating Wellness Core grain free and doing great.

I love Myra...and that is the best quote ever!!! Seriously though you can spend your dogs whole life agonizing over what food to feed. The list Randi posted is a great outline to follow.

Dr Mac that is funny did you ever see the sketch I think on SNL or something like that with side effects from medication but its made up stuff like will cause uncontrollable rambling,licking the cat..etc!

Seriously, do not 'overthink' this. You will drive yourself crazy and not do your pup any favours.
There are many fine choices and 'right' ways to feed you dog. In general , as has been mentioned earlier, dogs eat MUCH better than people.

'Research', particularly internet research, can be like reading the inserts on medications. Never a good idea. You know how the beautiful green butterfly, (actually moth), helps the lady sleep, then the guy calmly says 'May cause nausea, diarrhea, night terrors, heart attack, stroke...' Its kinda like that.

Find a decent quality food that your dogs like, have good stools with, have good coats and muscle tone... then relax and enjoy your pups without agonizing over whether it is the single best possible choice.

I had a woman come into the store about 3 weeks ago. She gets her poodle puppy this coming Friday. She has since spent probably about 3 hours in my store looking and each and every product label. I though that she had settled on Now! Puppy!.....then aargh! Now went and changed their packaging. It too me another 15 minutes explaining what Petcurean was doing with GO! and Now! and she still walked away without dog food.

I agree! Stop overthinking! If your dog is healthy, shiny coat, no allergies, regular poops, etc. then give it up.

If your dog is having issues, then, of course, diet is the first place to investigate.

Well, Xander goes to his forever home in just about a week, and they are almost out of the Blue Buffalo canned (we bought two cases). I am still adding puppy milk replacer to their canned puppy food, even though they are almost 7 weeks old. I have been researching and researching. Tonight I went to Rural King and after much looking we chose Nutro Max puppy. I wanted to stay on the Blue but right now, until we get better finances, we just can't afford it. We haven't given it to them yet, but will start in the morning. Of course with it mixed with what we were feeding them for a few days, in diminishing amounts of the old to new.
