Bitsy Boodle: Diabetic?

Bitsy Boodle Update

First of all, thanks you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers and good wishes. I know they helped incredibly, for we have an answer:

Bits does not have diabetes. Our wonderful vet discovered that her arthritis in her hips has progressed rapidly, and she had marked deterioriation. The panting, thirst, lethargy are related to pain from arthritis.

I feel so stupid.

She's on Tramadol for pain, and will be on some kind of pain management for life. We'll watch her closely, but will not let her suffer once the balance between pain and quality of life tips the scales. With care, she will have several years of happiness left -- but we know now we aren't looking at a 15-year life span. Every moment with The Boods is a treasure, and we plan to cherish every second.

Chris - don't feel stupid. Sometimes, we overlook the obvious in looking for answers. With her symptoms, we would think of an endocrine disorder. Praying for you as you balance the meds with her pain.

Ohh...my~ Poor Bitsy. Sending lots & lots of prayers to this sweet girl. I hope that she can get leveled out,and feeling better soon. She is such a love.

poor Bitsy!! Dont feel bad about missing it, the picture is always clearer in hindsight! Hope she gets to a comfortable level quickly and gets some relief!!

Sending healing prayers for Bitsy to St. Francis, Chris. I hope she's with you for a long time to come. :hugs

Oh dear, Chris - don't feel stupid. It's a process of elimination to discover what's going on with them since they can't talk. Even educated guesses are wrong sometimes.

I know Bitsy will get the most wonderful and thoughtful care from you and I pray she has many more comfortable years with you. Give her a hug from me.

I'm relieved for you that you have an answer and that it's not Cushings or diabetes. Perhaps also look into acupuncture to help alleviate pain ?
And yes, do cherish every day you have with her.
