blood

Go to the vet ASAP. Have them check for HGE - it's easy to check for and relatively easy to treat, but a lot of vets miss it and it can kill a dog extremely rapidly. I almost lost a dog a couple years ago to this - I brought her into the emergency vet at 11:30 pm when I spotted the blood, they gave her a shot, told me not to worry about the blood because they were sure it was "old blood" (even though I insisted it was bright red and brought a sample), and sent her home. By 6:30 the next morning there were trails of blood all over my house - the blood had gone from being in her stool to literally leaking from her bottom. When I did the research, I found out a lot of vets don't recognize/acknowledge the signs, and lots of dogs die within 24-72 hours. I'm not trying to scare you - it may not be HGE - but if it is it's far, far better if it's caught early on.

I would be worried too!

Let us know what the vets say....fingers crossed that it is something that is not serious!

Yes, I ,too, would bring him into the vet.

Mally had HGE when he was younger.(so did his cousin, Mack, also a sheltie.)

The emergency room vet that saw Mally said he sees at least one case of it a month. Thank goodness he recognized what Mally had and treated him for it. HGE is very serious.

Please keep us updated, when you can.
