Bossy Blueberry

Piper's mom

IMG_7003.jpeg IMG_7002.jpeg Yesterday morning I fed the dogs and then my mom and I were having our coffee in the kitchen. Several minutes later I hear Blueberry bark…an insistent bark, one that in her mind MUST be responded to. I waited a minute or two (and one more bark) to go see what she wanted.
This is what I found…
On the shelf she’s looking at I found (at the back) a small styrofoam bowl with a couple crusts of bread. This dog has the BEST sense of smell.
And while I didn’t give her a piece of the crust I did give her a cookie :ROFLMAO:
P.S this is my mom’s messy tv room…at least she’s learned to put things up high although I do believe Blueberry could’ve found a way to get the bread if she had to!

OK so this sounds like a Nosework natural dog to me! Honestly when it comes to food Faith is second to none either. On our daily walk by the creek unfortunately some folks will throw out moldy bread supposedly for the birds, or other bits of food and we have to watch her like a hawk because she WILL find it and eat it if she can!

I think it's funny that she barked about finding the food though, I guess finders keepers? :ROFLMAO:

You’re absolutely right Sharon…I don’t know why I didn’t think of that! She can find a day old carrot slice under my mom’s ottoman (they get treats in the evening if I go out) whereas the other two smell nothing. Well push the ottoman out of the way and if we don’t see anything she insists we move it more and sure enough she finds it.
I’ll have to look into doing some work with her (maybe get her into a class) once everything gets sorted out here.

I think she is telling you that you could have some too if only you would get it for "me"....I swear, remember those photos where they ask you to find what has changed between one and the other-- if we could somehow give them to Shelties it would take 1 second they would get it.. If you want to be alerted to small changes in the position of furniture or whatever call a Shelite. And yes they have an excellent nose and the nose knows... They must feel sorry for us nose blind two leggers.

Yesterday morning after they’d shared a banana with my mom blueberry stood in the hallway staring at me. She wanted something from me but try as I might I couldn’t figure out what it was.
Fast forward 2 hours when I returned from the grocery store and Blueberry was standing near the screen door. I saw something stuck in her fur near her neck (on the side in her thick fur).
It was a piece of banana ….THAT was what she needed help with! And trust me she tried to tell me.

My house the other guy would have got it and ate it.

Definitely a future nose work champ! Shelby was the same way, she could sniff anything out. I remember telling my husband that “Shelby is telling me there are mice in the grill”. He insisted there were none. This went on for a few days. Then we had the entire family over for a cook out, he opens the doors on the grill and out come several mice running all around, across my BIL’s feet, my nieces screaming “don’t kill them!” And Shelby trying to catch them. What a scene. All I said was “we tried to tell you”.

I did nosework with Shelby for many years so I definitely knew when she was telling me something, I always trusted that nose of hers.
