Bringing home a new pup - Food question

I've never noticed runs in any of mine on Wellness either. The only thing I can think of that may cause it is people switching over from crap to it. After all, Wellness would be much different from say, Kibbles N Bits.
 
Congrats on getting a new pup.

There is nothing wrong with Pro Plan - you could always switch to the higher quality Pro Plan selects. I recently switched mine to Eagle Pack Holistic, which they love, but it is quite expensive in Australia. They both get 1/8-1/4 cup for breakfast and I cook dinner (usually 100g of meat + vets all natural mix) or 1/2 a can of Eagle Pack Holistic tinned food if I am feeling lazy (they prefer moist food in the evening). My dogs are 6kg and 12kg so even at that weight it is less than what your pup is currently getting.

Deciding what food to get is so confusing - I sympathise.
 
In the past three years my dogs have been on Flint River Ranch, California Natural, and Science Diet. They are currently on California Natural - which is a good food that they both like eating. You can now buy it at most pet stores as well.
 
Mine are on Diamond Naturals, and they've done wonderful on it.

My cat, however, is on the Blue Buffalo Spa Select, but at $17 for an 8 lb bag, I can't afford to have my dogs on it as well. (The Blue Buffalo, I mean.)

pro plan

I fed Pro Plan from puppy for 14 years! It is good stuff. I am getting a puppy this week. I plan to continue on the "Purina Puppy Chow" for a week or two since that is what the breeder has her on. Then I am transitioning to Pro Plan puppy. I am also considering going to Science Diet instead of the Pro Plan Puppy.
 
My pups were on Pro Plan and were doing fine. I took the position of "if it ain't broke don't fix it". But then I started reading around and finally decided to make the switch. I just finished transitioning to Orijen. It has fantastic reviews. I'm a little on the fence about it at the moment.

Indy seems to like it just fine, but Bacca has gone of his food for some reason. It may have nothing to do with the food and something else, altogether. And both of them are drinking alot more water than they used to (that may actually be a good thing!)
 
Transitioning to Orijen as well

I also just started to transition to Orijen from Pro Plan... When asking around about how to transition I was told everything from 6 day process to a 6 week process (gradually adding more of the new food and less of the old). I am guessing that the slower the transition the easier on the puppy???
