I have one Chris Christensen brush, it is the one with longer pins, I need a shorter new brush and am a loss of which to get. What does everyone use? I need a new pin brush and dont' want to pay a fortune but don't want one from the big box store either. What about a natural bristle brush too, are they needed?

I only use a bristle brush for brushing out chalk at a show. I think pin brushes are best for Sheltie coats, and a slicker for finishing. I love the Madan brushes which are not expensive, come in different levels of stiffness and are really comfortable in your hand. I have probably half a dozen of them! You can find them here.

Thanks Ann - since I have no idea what Baker will have for a coat I think I will start with ordering a softer one - just to get him used to being brushed.

I have tried several brands before breaking down and paying the high price for a Mason Pearson nylon/natural bristle. The Mason Pearson is the best and considering what many of us spend on our dog kids, it's not that bad.
