brushing and shedding

Well, Watson is starting to get the little tufts of shedding fur so he just got a cursory brushing... and I realized that he now had enough coat growth on his side to be brushed! He's got a small patch where undercoat won't ever be growing back. The guard hairs in that patch are soooo soft and silky. So different from the rest of his coat.

Should I be worried about stripping all of his undercoat out with the brushing or will only the loose fur come out? I don't want him to have no insulation for winter.

Unless you are using a stripping and ripping tool, only the loose stuff will come out.

You can use line brushing to get all the old dead stuff out.....

Watson would like to express his thanks for assuring him that it's ok to accept brushing since he won't be going nearly naked this winter.
