Yeah, I'm VERY confused on this issue. I bought the little finger tooth brush, but I keep getting told not to brush my puppy's teeth. That food, bones, & toys is all she'll need for her teeth.
Are you being told NOT to brush his teeth or that he shouldn't NEED his teeth brushed because of a good diet?
There's absolutely no reason not to brush their teeth. It also helps them get used to someone messing around in their mouth if you should ever need to do so in the future.
You cannot remove the enamel from their teeth unless you use too stiff a brush or the wrong toothpaste so no worries. It doesn't happen in humans, either, unless you use too stiff a brush or a very abrasive toothpaste.
You can make your gums recede, which can cause pain, if you brush too often, with too stiff a brush, etc., but you cannot remove the enamel. That's why dentists have to use diamond-tipped drills to drill away enamel on teeth - it's extremely hard!
